Myanmar is a country of diverse cultures, languages, and landscapes. From the bustling city of Yangon to the ancient ruins of Bagan, there is something to explore for everyone. I recently took a week-long trip to Myanmar, starting in Yangon and traveling to Inle Lake, Bagan, and Mandalay.
My journey began in Yangon. I was met at the airport by a friendly guide who took me to my hotel. After settling in, I spent the day exploring the city. I visited the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda, walked through the bustling markets, and got a glimpse at the life of this vibrant city.
The next day, I took a bus to Inle Lake. This beautiful lake is full of unique floating villages, and I spent the day exploring the area. I wandered through the floating market, visited the local temple, and even had the chance to take a boat tour where I watched the locals fishing with their unique nets.
The following day, I made my way to Bagan. This ancient city is filled with thousands of temples and pagodas, some of which date back to the 11th century. I spent a few days exploring the city and marveling at the intricate architecture. I also took a hot air balloon ride over the city, offering a spectacular view of the temples.
Finally, I made my way to Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar. Here, I spent some time exploring the city’s many markets and took a boat trip down the Irrawaddy River. On my last day, I took a day trip to the nearby Mingun temple, which was an incredible experience.
